A 35-year-old black man presented with multiple pink, asymptomatic, indurated papules and plaques that had appeared on his posterior right scalp approximately two weeks earlier. A slight scale could be seen overlying one of the plaques and some pustules within several of the plaques. There was no cervical or posterior occipital lymphadenopathy and no signs of alopecia. The man said he cut his own hair, usually with an electric shaver or a single-blade razor. He had not attempted any self-treatment.
