Image of the Week: When a snake strikes twice
A woman presents to the emergency room with bilateral snake bites. After unsuccessfully being treated with anti-venom, she developed acute compartment syndrome, a surgical emergency that occurs when raised pressures within a fascial compartment compromise perfusion of tissue in that space. Bilateral fasciotomies were performed to relieve the pressure and reduce the risk of ischemic injury. Learn more about this case and join the conversation on Figure 1.
