Program Description

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive disease with a complicated diagnostic procedure. The challenge of IPF treatments highlights the importance of the multidisciplinary nature of this condition, stressing the need for a collaboration between many healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with IPF. Our expert panel will provide healthcare professionals with knowledge about IPF, the diagnostic process, guideline and evidence-based individualized treatment plans, and the importance of a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach to improve the quality of life for patients with IPF.

Intended Audience

Pulmonologists, radiologists, primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers interested in IPF

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Review strategies for confirming an IPF diagnosis, including the utility of high-resolution computed tomography and surgical lung biopsy
  • Discuss the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to IPF diagnosis
  • Integrate guideline-recommended care and evidence from clinical and real-world studies to develop individualized treatment plans for patients with IPF
  • Identify opportunities to provide individualized management for patients with shared decision-making in a patient-centered approach
