Protein Sciences announced that Flublok (trivalent recombinant hemagglutinin [types A and B]) influenza vaccine is now available across the country. In July 2015, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved two strain changes for the upcoming 2015/16 flu season.

Flublok is a recombinant protein-based vaccine indicated for influenza immunization in adults aged ≥18 years. It is free of formaldehyde, antibiotics, gluten, gelatin, egg protein, latex, thimerosal, and other preservatives. It is the only flu vaccine made in a 100% egg-free system using modern cell culture technology, making it unnecessary to use an infectious influenza virus or antibiotics in manufacturing.

Flublok vaccine is available as 0.5mL single-dose vials in 10-count cartons.
