Program Description

Scientific evidence shows that higher-protein diets can improve weight loss and help preserve lean muscle mass, which are essential for enjoying an active lifestyle and reducing disease risk. Patients and consumers rely on health professionals to provide perspectives on the latest research supporting weight loss and heart health – particularly the role of animal protein, like lean beef, in the diet.

During this webinar, Jim Hill, PhD, Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and Director of the Colorado Nutrition Obesity Research Center at the University of Colorado, and Holly Wyatt, MD, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Metabolism and Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, assess the research and provide guidance on the role of protein, specifically lean beef, in weight management.

Intended Audience

Registered dietitians, medical doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Define the relationship between higher-protein diets and weight loss and lean muscle mass retention
  • Apply research on the role of protein in weight loss and lean body composition to the development of healthy eating patterns
  • Assess the importance of lean beef in an effective higher-protein diet to support dietary flexibility for improved adherence
