Generic Name and Formulations:
Gatifloxacin 0.5%; oph soln; contains benzalkonium chloride.
Indications for ZYMAXID:
Susceptible bacterial conjunctivitis.
Adults and Children:
<1yr: not established. ≥1yr: one drop every 2 hrs in affected eye(s) (max 8 doses) on day 1, then 1 drop in affected eye(s) 2–4 times daily while awake on days 2–7.
Discontinue if superinfection or hypersensitivity occurs. Corneal endothelial cell injury. Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.
Worsening conjunctivitis, irritation, dysgeusia, eye pain/discharge.
