Patient preference for injection site

It is true that there is no clinical advantage to administering injectable medroxyprogesterone (Depo-Provera) in the deltoid as opposed to the gluteus (Item 140-2). Individual preference should be the only consideration.

However, when supplied as a prefilled syringe, Depo-Provera comes with a 1.5-in needle, which is too long for most deltoids.—SUSANNA LEVIN, WHNP, New Rochelle, N.Y. (143-14)
