Look at thyroid antibodies even in the presence of normal thyroid function tests when symptoms of thyroid disease are present (infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome, depression, anxiety, hair loss, weight difficulties, anxiety, fatigue, muscle aches, neurologic complaints, recurrent upper respiratory infections, allergies, etc.), especially in women during puberty and menopause. Newer research supports treatment with synthroid of positive antibodies with normal thyroid function tests.
