Hopefully, the gold standard is evidence-based! Having said that, only 30% of standardized care has solid research driving the practice guidelines. The National Guideline Clearinghouse is an excellent resource for evidence-based guidelines. An available guideline trumps common practices that are not evidence-based, and controlled clinical trials always trump expert opinion. — Rebecca H. Bryan, APRN, CNP (153-09)
