Urinary ketones might be valuable to show increased ketoacids in uncontrolled diabetes.
Urinary changes that show impaired hydrogen excretion suggest renal failure.
Increased lactic acid in the blood is suggestive of tissue hypoxia.
Formic acid may be helpful in identifying methanol intoxication.
