An infant girl born to Asian parents following an uncomplicated and uneventful pregnancy was noted to have a slate blue-gray macule that covered the upper dorsum of the left foot and the most distal part of her lower left leg. The lesion measured approximately 3 cm x 6 cm. Neither the young girl nor her family had any relevant medical history.
A 35-year-old black woman presented with a brown, slightly verrucous plaque on the dorsum of her right hand. The lesion had been present since birth and grown proportionally with the patient but had not changed in color. Its appearance had remained unaltered since puberty. The asymptomatic plaque measured approximately 3.5 cm x 6.5 cm.
