The patient, a 24-year-old African American woman, presented to the clinic with a two-year history of dark plaques on her face. The plaques were present across her nose, in her ears, and on her scalp. A few had healed and left white atrophic scars. Otherwise healthy, she was not taking any medications. She denied weakness, shortness of breath, cough, joint pains, and changes in mood. The appearance of the rash was concerning, but she did not have pain, itch, or other symptoms.
