A Caucasian girl, born to a gravida 2, para 2-0-0-2 mother, presented two days after birth with an erythematous, scaly, atrophic rash primarily in the periorbital region but also on her back. The infant was otherwise healthy, with no other symptoms. The pregnancy had been complicated only by maternal Rh-negative blood type; therefore Rh immune globulin had been administered. The mother first reported no past medical history but admitted to photosensitivity on further questioning; she reported no joint pains.
