I was surprised that oral human papillomavirus (HPV) was not included in the discussion, “Oral pathology for the primary-care clinician” (April 2010). I see it fairly often, and dentists with whom I consult comment on the increased incidence in oral HPV lesions, which can lead to the development of oral cancers.—Sharon Martens, ARNP, FNP, Seattle
