What is the effect of using inhaled insulin to address insulin resistance in patients with Alzheimer’s disease?

While insulin does address elevated plasma glucose levels that can result from insulin resistance, there is no specific reason that inhaled insulin is superior to injected insulin. You do not mention how you know the patient has insulin resistance. Are the glucose levels elevated? Has the patient failed (or been unable to swallow) oral insulin sensitizers? For insulin-resistant patients whose glucose levels are well controlled, insulin may not be necessary. Studies show the efficacy of improving insulin sensitivity with diet, activity levels, and insulin-sensitizing agents.
