Thank you for your very insightful article, “Adult depression: Treating by subtype for success” (February 2010). I have found that use of the appropriate selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) (selection based on additional symptoms beyond anxiety) produces a good response in most patients. For those not obtaining good control with an SSRI alone, consider buspirone or mirtazapine as an additive agent.—Bruce Miller, PA-C, St. Cloud, Minn. (137-18)
