BOSTON – Kim Zuber, PA-C, received the PAragon Outstanding PA award at the American Academy of Physician Assistants IMPACT 2014 meeting for her work treating underinsured nephrology patients amidst a nationwide shortage of nephrology specialists.
Zuber oversees patients at seven dialysis centers throughout Maryland and Virginia.
“These are extremely complicated patients and they can’t be seen in 10 minutes, 15 minutes. They’ve got a list of on average 15 medications and five diagnoses, and that’s the uncomplicated patients,” Zuber said.

In addition to her commitment to patients, Zuber is active in PA advocacy on Capitol Hill and helped earn PAs specializing in nephrology reimbursement at 100% of the Medicare rate.
Zuber was also honored with the PAragon 2014 Clinical Publishing Award for her article “Medication Dosing for Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease,” which appeared in the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
