Due to the events of the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) was forced to cancel its 2020 live meeting. The event was scheduled to take place from June 23 to 28, 2020, in New Orleans, LA. However, the organization has implemented a virtual experience starting September 10, 2020 that will continue until December 31.
The virtual event will provide nurse practitioners (NPs) with up to 60 hours of continuing education (CE) credit. Participants will also be able to join forum discussions, visit exhibitor pages online, and attend live speaking events, including the 4 keynote presentations. On October 3 at 3pm, Katie Duke, MSN, ACNP-BC, will give a live presentation on her experience working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City. Her talk, “From Provider to Patient: Working Through the Coronavirus Pandemic With Two Perspectives,” discusses how the pandemic has changed her career and how working through a disaster affected her morale as a provider. On November 7 at 3pm, AANP vice presidents of federal and state government affairs, MaryAnne Sapio and Tay Kopanos, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, FAANP, will cover current state and federal policy issues and provide an update on active legislation at the state and national levels.
Both research posters and industry posters will be available for viewing. More than 100 posters from participants as well as the latest medical breakthroughs from top medical companies will be available for viewing throughout the duration of the conference.
The AANPconnect Forum has discussion threads where participants can start a conversation, respond to other’s posts, discuss CE sessions, and share practice pearls or memorable patient stories. Participants are awarded points for connecting in the forum as well as updating their profiles and having other community members comment on their posts. AANP will also be promoting the event on their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram platforms with the hashtag #AANPconnect.
