The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Foundation announced $111,000 in offerings available for nurse practitioner educational scholarships and project/research grants through the AANP Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program 2009 Funding Cycle. One addition to the 2009 Funding Cycle is a $15,000 grant offering for women’s heart health, the largest offering made by the AANP Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program to-date.
The AANP Foundation works year-round with leaders in the NP community, members of the AANP Foundation/AANP Nurse Practitioner Corporate Partner Council and other corporate supporters in the health-care industry to evaluate funding needs and define the allocation of financial support. This year, the topics supported through grant offerings for practicing NPs include, women’s heart health, diabetes, immunization, COPD, nutrition, and health policy. The 2009 Funding Cycle also offers scholarships and grants for NP students at the masters, post-masters, and doctoral level.
“The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program supports the pursuit of quality advanced education and promotes innovative scientific investigation by nurse practitioners (NPs). The AANP Foundation’s investment in these initiatives ensures NPs will continue to make a lasting, positive impact on healthcare,” said Kimberly Dempster-Gonzalez, MAOM, director of development for the AANP Foundation.
