Insight Pharmaceuticals, LLC, has recalled the nasal spray Nostrilla Nasal Decongestant due to potential contamination with Burkholderia cepacia, according to an FDA MedWatch safety alert.
“Burkholderia cepacia may cause serious infection in individuals with a compromised immune system or chronic lung condition (i.e. cystic fibrosis),” the agency wrote.
Approximately 34,000 bottles of the decongestant were distributed nationwide through normal retail outlets and pharmacies. The lot in question, #11G075, comes in 0.5 oz. plastic bottles and is marked with the expiration date 05/2014.

The FDA urges people who purchased the nasal spray to return the product and call the company at 1-877-546-9059, Monday-Friday from 9 am to 5 pm (EST), and to contact their health-care provider if they experience any problems after using this product.
Clinicians should report any adverse events related to the product to the FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program.
