A 48-year-old male presented with complaints of radiculopathy, muscle weakness, and a loss of sensation in the left lower extremity. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was ordered.
The MRI above shows a L5-S1 posterior lateral disc herniation. An L5-S1 disc herniation would most likely cause gastrocnemius weakness and loss of sensation at the plantar aspect of the foot.
