Image of the Week: Congenital hydrocephalus

This patient received a diagnosis of congenital hydrocephalus, a condition in which abnormally dilated ventricles cause cerebrospinal fluid to accumulate in the brain. Common symptoms include spasticity, epilepsy, and cognitive impairment. Hydrocephalus is often treated using surgical drainage, such as shunt placement or third ventriculostomy.
